Drug Use and Police Arrests and Music Festivals

Interesting article on how music festival organizers are becoming more aggressive about screening and searching for drugs from concertgoers.

Sniffer dogs, pat-downs and other drug screening measures await concertgoers during this summer music festival season in the wake of 2013 concert deaths linked to the club drug Molly.

A robust medical presence can also be expected this summer, with medical tents, doctors, nurses and EMTs on hand. Concertgoers are encouraged to report anyone who might be suffering from an overdose, exhaustion or other health issue.

Making these two ideas compatible is a challenge. At Bonnaroo, there was reported to be a large police presence, including undercover officers. But there was also a "no questions asked" policy at the medical tents, so as not to drive off or scare away anyone who might be having a bad drug experience with ecstasy/molly, mushrooms, or whatever.

You can't have people afraid of being arrested if they are having a medical emergency.

Anyone have any experience they'd like to share with festivals and drugs?
